Government Affairs

< Back to Committees

Our government affairs agenda is focused at keeping your business competitive. Whether it is municipal, provincial or federal lobbying the Ontario Printing and Imaging Association (OPIA) is working for you.

We plan an annual Queen’s Park Day, which targets Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of Provincial Parliaments and high-ranking administrative officials who decide the fate of the printing industry.

As in any truly successful government affairs initiative, the Government Affairs Committee develops a platform and proactively implements it throughout each year. The platform involves issues that pertain to the printing industry through ministries such as Labour, Environment and Finance in an effort to influence policy in a way that is favourable to the industry.

The OPIA is also active on the municipal front when it comes to implementing regulations that pertain to the operation of a printing facility or a supplier to the industry. The OPIA was one of the first industries to discuss an implementation plan for the City of Toronto Sewer Use Bylaw and developed templates that have saved individual printing facilities thousands of dollars.

Our government affairs agenda is focused at keeping your business competitive at all levels – municipal, provincial, federal and international.
